literally what the FUCK is a female presenting nipple. the fact that they wrote this out is so hysterical because all it does is draw attention to how absurd censoring women’s nipples is jkgshjkdfhgjfdg
Soup.io – well-known alternative to Tumblr. Reblogging, post types, themes, collab blogs, dashboard, artsy, great community already there. Soup can auto-import everything you’ve posted on Tumblr.
TypePad – Includes reblogging. Dashboard and post types similar to Tumblr.
Reblogging cause one day it just may be neccessary.
It became necessary
hey someone needs to update this post
jux shut down in 2016, it’s no longer an option
soup.io is still working, but sometimes goes down for unscheduled maintenance like it has right now
typepad is subscription based. you cant use it for free
mastodon.social is somewhat like twitter, but describes itself as a “decentralized, open source social network”
there is a free to use version of wordpress for long form blogging
wix is free to use and can be used to create blogs or portfolios
when you google “alternatives to tumblr” a lot of the sites you find are going to be subscription based and you will need to pay to keep your stuff there indefinitely. pay attention to what you’re reading.
Tumblr really out here, just willingly murdering itself.
@staff, complete censorship is not the answer. It is NOT the answer.
This is not going to help your platform, it is only going to hurt it. You are making a mistake. You are dealing a significant blow to the already shaky ground you’re standing on. You are kicking your user base in the teeth.
Tumblr was never made specifically for minors: why do this now? There are so many more steps you could take to get a handle on the porn bots and child pornography – why is THIS the “solution” (because it is NOT one) you came up with? Becoming a site-wide purity police should NOT be the fix any professional came to. I do not buy that you don’t foresee the ramifications of this.
I can deal with the rampant technical errors: I can deal with the app crashing 50 times a day, with posts not actually posting for minutes on end instead of instantly, like they’re supposed to, with your in-blog search feature working only at certain hours, when the winds and the tides are just right, and the pagen gods deem it time.
What I cannot deal with? Censorship. Especially censorship due to what I can only guess is pure laziness, lack of interest/effort, or incompetence on the part of those tasked with addressing the problem of inappropriate content on this site. You can’t bother to put filters in place for the specific troubling content, so you punish your entire user base instead?
Adult content is not automatically inappropriate content. Banning all adult content is NOT an answer.
I come to Tumblr for fandom. Fandom will DIE on Tumblr under these new rules. So many factions of online community will wither on your site under these changs. You are doing nothing but ensuring an exodus of loyal, long-time users from your platform. That’s a mistake you should really reconsider.
Not to mention that there seems to be a MAJOR problem with whatever algorithm you’ve got going, as content that 100% does not fall under your ridiculous new guidelines is already being flagged.
I understand being yanked from the app store must have been jarring and worrisome, but THIS is not the answer to your problem. This is creating a much bigger one.
They’re turning your explicit content private, yes. But they are not deleting your entire blog, everything else will be public. You can still support our work and post other content! We need you guys so please please please don’t delete your blogs as disheartening this all is.
in the light of the newest tumblr purge, a lot of sfw content has been unjustly flagged by tumblr as explicit. all of us are here sharing the screenshots of this small dick energy. if you see a post that has been wrongfully tagged, take the time to shoot the OP a quick message (or send them an ask if they have their DMs closed) and link them the post you saw because while staff said they’d be notifying the OPs if their post got flagged, it’s not happening to all of us. my edits, for example, got flagged on accident and I didn’t get an email. I would have never known had I not seen a screenshot of my gifs. please help your creators out in this dumbass time.
